Long Time Coming

We made a small trip to Moab, UT. It was a quick trip with only one day of riding. We stayed in town and drove into the Needles area to unload. We are a habitual people, so of course we unloaded at Tombstone Rock. We stopped at the Secret Spire on our way to Spring Canyon Point. There we played around looking down at Hey Joe Canyon. The water was still frozen and looked cold down there. Lucky for us, there was no snow on any of the trails we were on. It also was 52 degrees outside, so it was perfect when we stopped and played.
We had some difficulties with one 4-wheeler breaking, twice! On the way to Secret Spire, we noticed the 4-wheeler was acting funny. When we stopped and looked at it, we noticed the tie rod was falling off. After a few tries, we were back and running. On the way back to camp, the other side's tie rod fell off completely. Fortunately no one was hurt badly, just bumps and bruises.
Once back to camp, we set up a shooting range and took out some fun guns and played around with them. We had some friends from Australia who had never seen a gun in real life before, so we thought we'd have them start shooting with a BB Gun. Once they started feeling comfortable with those, we broke out the real ones and let them fire them off. They had a great time. Kody was amazing with the BB gun, hitting almost all of the targets he was aiming at.
All in all it was a fun, fast, exciting trip. Hopefully we can go back and go on some of the more challenging trails.

Manti

Our last trip to Manti was a muddy blast! Some people gave up while others were hit with a wall of mud. Either way there were lots of laughs. Of course the pageant was wonderful! It was one of our shorter trips, with only 2 rides, but the rides were super fun.

Our next trip's dates have changed. We are now going to Yellowstone July 12th - 17th. Should be fun! Hope to see you all there. Check out the newsletter for the location.

Feedback

After getting feedback from the group we have decided to change the April 15th - 18th Adventure location from Moab to Temple Mountain
It's located about 25 miles due east of Moab.

We went there a couple years ago and had a great time. I have pictures & information from that trip posted at this link - http://www.thegameroom.com/atvclub/april-2006.jpg

There is plenty of riding trails for all levels of riders from easy to expert. Some activities we have planned will be playing night games in Goblin Valley - Taking a Hike through Little Wild Horse
Canyon and Ding & Dang Canyon if time permits.

Directions From Spanish Fork Take US-6 SE 122 miles - Merge onto I-70 West 8 miles - Exit 149 Highway 24 south - 24 miles Turn right at Temple Mountan Rd towards Goblin Valley.
Pass Goblin Valley Rd - Approx. 2 1/2 miles after Goblin Valley Rd. We will be at the site on the north side of Temple Mountain Rd. Just before Chute Canyon Rd.

Below is a Google Maps link to the campsite area.

Friends & Family

Several of you have been asking about the ATV Adventures for 2009. We have started the planning, and have scheduled a date for a Moab adventure. We haven't decided on the exact campsite yet. We are thinking about either White Wash Sand Dunes or Gravestone Rock at the Needles and would like to get some input before making a decision - Mark your calenders for April 15th - 18th and make plans to join us and we'll let you know the campsite location later.

We are looking for people to help us plan the 2009 adventures if you are interested or have a favorite riding spot you would like to share with the club - contact us here.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

San Rafael Swell

We have just finished our trip to San Rafael Swell. It was a great trip. We went on a couple of short rides to the pictographs and the swinging bridge on Friday. We also stop at this hole in the ground that the boys climbed down. It turned out to be some sort of holding tank. Inside of it was a Kangaroo rat that must have fallen in, so the boys decided to save it by catching it, then carrying him up the ladder to set him free.

On Saturday we got a later start than we wanted to. We had to fix the brakes on a bike. We were on our way to the Devil's Race Track, a very tough ride. It was a long (95 miles to be exact), hard ride, but we made it with only a few mishaps.

All in all it was a good trip. And this months "It wasn't your trip" award goes to . . . The Taylors!
